Sunil Gavaskar names his surprise pick to replace Virat Kohli as India’s Test captain

Virat Kohli has left Test captaincy after the series in South Africa ended in a defeat. The visitors were thumped 1-2 by Dean Elgar’s men. And now the speculation has started on India’s new Test skipper. While Rohit Sharma is the top contender as he was appointed the team’s new Test vice-captain for South Africa red-ball matches, KL Rahul could pip him considering his age and number of years left in his playing days.

However, former India skipper and one of the best batsmen in the longest format, Sunil Gavaskar, wants the BCCI to appoint Rishabh Pant as a new captain in the game’s longest format. Sports Journalist Nikhil Naz revealed this.

Pant has led Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League. The 24-year old was impressive in his first year, and nobody knows; the cricket board might surprise everyone by revealing his name before the next Test assignment against Sri Lanka.
